Medxcel Employees Assist Community with Habitat Panel Build
On April 26, 2014, over 100 Medxcel employees and family members joined together for their first build with Greater Indy Habitat for Humanity. The volunteers gathered in the parking lot of the Medxcel corporate headquarters for a panel build to benefit a local single mother with five children. A panel build is when a group of volunteers builds the frame of a house to be assembled at the site of a family's home.
Kenny Williams, IT Service Desk Specialist volunteered for the panel build and said, “It’s great to be out here to lend a helping hand and help Maria and her family have a home.” James Jernigan, Clinical Engineering Director, St. Vincent Indianapolis added “Working together with friends and family, it’s a great day for a great cause.”
“I have witnessed many panel builds and seen the impact it can have on a family when it sets in that these pieces of wood are coming together to build their future home," said Amy Donhardt, Habitat for Humanity Event Coordinator. "This home owner was no exception. After seeing the first two wall panels raised she was visibly emotional and in awe of what the volunteers had accomplished in such a short time.”
This Habitat family's home site is on the near north side of Indianapolis and the home is scheduled to begin construction in mid-July and wrap up in September. Medxcel employees support a variety of local charities, and enjoy donating their time and energy to help others in the local community.
